What up yall! So much happened this week and I dont remember what I sent out in my last email so I apologize if I repeat anything.
This past week we were asked to give a 15 minute run down on why our area and one other has the most progressing friends towards baptism. There were some pretty wild stats pur ZL's told us and I ngl thought the work here was slow and we weren't finding lots of friends. But the friends we are finding, we are helping them progress, and out of our small teaching pool we have the most friends on date, and actually progressing towards baptism. Kinda cool cause we've been working hard and not everyone says yes and wants to receive the gospel yet so, it was nice to hear that others are having struggles as well and we are actually doing good.
So we did a little fun demonstration thing at MDC (zone counsel). A big factor in Utah is the members and the members are so crucial. They need to build those relationships with the friends we help teach because they will be around longer than the missionaries. So I had a fun idea to get everyone's attention at MDC, my comp said some stuff, then another companionship made a fire graph and yeah it was lit. Too long to explain sorry. 😂
This week was interviews with president! Elder Cluff has me doing like everything which im actually grateful for and even though sometimes its annoying it's blessed me and helped me learn faster on how missionary work is done in Utah. He was hyping me up to President Scheltinga which is a good thing but maybe a bad thing cause Elder Cluff told me that President said he sees me in Leadership soon but I do not feel ready for haha. President is awesome though truly blessed to have such an amazing mission President, and his wife said shes friends with my mom now so she's so chill and friends with my mom so shes cool fr haha. Hopefully thats true mom!
Now onto the teaching. The Degouy's are thriving still and just got a puppy! Haven't seen it yet cause they were sick Saturday so we had to cancel and general conference was yesterday so we let them get better and watch that. They are amazing though so awesome to see the Gospel already bring so much joy into their lives. It's amazing to see and brings me so much joy i love it. My boy Gabe is also doing good. His house can be crazy sometimes but hes progressing and loves to see us. His dad tried sending us an Ai video of snoop dog talking bout general conference and it's funny the dad texts us lots just about random things. We have a few potential friends who this week we are going to make friends in sure of it. A family who just moved here in July and they have girls who go to church with their neighbors. Went by and said whats up and they are super welcoming and a nice family. The members again are so crucial in this work that im apart of and its so awesome.
An absolute blessing we had this week was Night Games! Just like back home when I was younger we'd play night games, these kids in 8th and 9th grade come every Saturday night to a park close to our apartment and play night games. I love working with the youth cause it gives me an opportunity to show the youth that being a missionary is awesome and fun, cause it really is. Shared a quick message with them and told them to invite more people and their non member friends to it next week so we can possibly teach more. The youth are awesome and that was so fun to randomly drive by at the right time at night and kow itll be a weekly thing!
Oh and also the thing with the AP was just so he could get rid of like a Google drive on our area email lol. Apparently some missionaries sent it to ours and we had it and had like regular movies and music lol. Of course i did not use any of it! Didn't even know it was there to be so fr. Maybe I wouldve. Kidding of course im locked 🔒
We also did NOT get to watch General Conference and went to invite everyone else to watch it. A sacrifice for sure cause I really wanted to lol. Probs would've been able to finally stay awake for all the sessions lol. It's chill tho ill go back and study them... especially D. Todd Christofferson's talk... gambling. Lock in back home fellas. It was funny getting a bunch of texts from family saying No more gambling or sports betting cause ill be honest I have in the past. Nothing serious but just a fun experience with friends but thats how the scary addiction starts and then you're cooked. So boys sacrifice those fun times and dont risk losing money lol. Easy for me to say out here lol
Anyway good week. The members here are awesome and being over at some of their house feels like home and its such a fun feeling to help bring the spirit into their homes!
Quick spiritual thought- This past week i read about Abinidi. The courage he had blows me away and to be able to continue to be true to his word and the Lord and stand up for what he knows to be true is inspiring. Abinadi only was able to have one of King Noah's men believe him though. 1 person is not that much and he was killed for saying what he knew to be true, but that one soul who believed him was Alma. Alma was able to escape king Noah and was able to preach what Abinadi had told him. Alma had many believers and went to the waters of Mormon and Baptized 450 people! Thats 450 and souls. All because Abinadi was able to have one person believe what he was saying was true alm that good came from that! You never know what impact you can have on someone and what their potential may be. I love that story so much and am so grateful for Abinadi and his example. The Book of Mormon has so many more good stories!
Anyways love you all so much! Missions are awesome everyone should serve one! So grateful for this month ive had in this area and hopefully with transfers coming up we get some good news haha!
