THE DISTRICT - Episode 1 - February 12, 2019
Hello everybody! I have so much to say and so little time so first of all THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR EMAILS. I can read them all throughout the week but can only reply on Tuesday (pday) but they've been such a strength and blessing to me! I will try to reply to all of them but for real I've really appreciated each and every one. They saved me this first crazy week! And your prayers, I can feel them! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
You guys, being a missionary is the best thing that's ever happened to me. And the MTC is so great I absolutely love it here. I've seen so many people I know including Elder Ash from good old C town, sister Zobell and Elder Noad from magrath, lots of friends from byu, and my 2nd cousin Elder Hardy from Vancouver! Elder Ash and Elder Hardy are in my zone actually so that's way cool and so crazy what are he odds of that!? Funny story that you southern alberta's might wanna hear some of you might know my old zone leader. His name is Elder D'eon. I was really throw off and freaked out when I walked into class first day and everyone is introducing themselves and it gets to be my turn and he cuts me off and says "Your name is sister Hardy you're from clarkston Alberta Canada you play volleyball and basketball and you're friends are..." he continues to name off lots of my friends names and everyone is so shook. Turns out he was from lethbridge and went to Lci and I didng even know him! He's funny and it was nice to have some of that back home humor to laugh at in this very new place.
It's really weird to look out the window and see my old apartment and the campus where I used to reside. I actually forget sometimes that theres a world that goes on outside the MTC Haha.
I got assigned as a Sister Training Leader! Its a lot of responsibility but so fun to get to know and serve all of the sisters along side the zone leaders! I love it and God qualifies those he calls, boy have I ever learned that.
EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY IS A MIRACLE. No joke. I wish I could tell you every story and every experience. The spirit here is Incredible and I'm always always feeling it.
I LOVE my district and my companion! My comps name is Sis. Stoddard and she's from Minnesota and we don't have much in common but quickly bonded over laughing at eachothers dumb jokes. She's the most caring, christlike person I know and I feel so blessed to have her.
A mission is the hardest most rewarding thing I've ever done in my whole entire life. And I love it. The only way I can describe it is the best hard. I'm learning and growing so much and I can't even begin to describe the joy I feel to wear a name tag and represent my savior Jesus Christ every day.
I have so many funny stories and spiritual experiences I want to share but certainly not enough time, so if you want to hear more talk to my mom Haha she's got it all.
If theres one thing I want you all to know, its that joy and success comes from looking outward to others instead of inward to yourself. In the learned words of Sister Hardy (me) "A testimony is found in the bearing of it, Charity is found in the sharing of it." You don't find yourself when you're looking for yourself, but when you are seeing others how Christ sees them and serving them how He would. When your sole purpose is to light and bring light to others, that light grows within yourself, and only then are you able to see it.
I challenge you all to read Mathew chapter 14 and see how it relates to you! It gives me both strength and comfort when I have doubts or feel down at all. Knowing that my savior is there to pull me up out of the water when I begin to sink is the greatest knowledge I have.
Faith + work + humility = miracles
I lOVE YOU ALL AND I LOVE EVERY DAY THAT I GET TO BE A MISSIONARY. Remember to be good and do good.
